A full range of neat /dilute chemical dispense equipment for safe and accurate dosing of chemical. The range includes various hand held plunger type pumps, push button pumps, electrical pumps, pneumatic pumps, electro pneumatic decant stations and trolleys, on off valves / taps, hand soap and sanitizer dispensers, various venturi driven dispensers available with push buttons or valves, water driven piston pumps and small in line chemical dilution blocks.
The failure to control the dosing aspect of detergents and disinfectants will result in an ineffective and inefficient clean of the surface. Inaccurate dosing of detergents and disinfectants, whether under or over dosing, can prove to be an important factor when controlling micro organisms.
Different methods of dosing of detergents and disinfectants are available which are listed below:
Concentrate Dosing
This method of dosing is usually employed where automatic dosing is unaffordable or impractical. It usually involves the use of hand operated pumps.
Although this type of equipment is relatively inexpensive and easy to operate they do rely on the operative to ensure accurate measures are used. Therefore stringent management of concentrated dosing is needed to ensure that correct dosing of chemicals is performed.
The Bucket Fill Proportioner – Single / Double is a quality dilution unit that should give trouble free operation if installed and maintained correctly.
The Proportioner provides a safe, controlled and economic method for dilution of chemical into an open container, i.e. bucket, sprayer, sink.
It is not suitable for feeding hoses longer than 1 metre, brushes, piped or valved systems.
This simple proportioner requires no electricity and is driven by the water flow; note: the maximum water temperature is 80°C. The unit is self-priming and gives an accurate and adjustable dilution if fed with a consistent water pressure.
The unit has no inbuilt control valves or air gap.
The Dosatron Proportioner provides a safe, controlled and economic method for dilution of chemical into either an open container, i.e. "bucket fill", or into sprayers, brushes or piped and valved systems.
These simple proportioners required no electricity and are driven by the water flow; they are self priming. The units give an accurate and adjustable dilution for a wide range of flow.
A range of proportioners is available to suit the required flow and dilution range.
Note: Water Authority regulations state that no chemical dilution equipment may be connected directly to the mains supply. A break in the supply using a type "A" air gap is required.
Monitoring & Control
It is important to monitor the energies that are used for cleaning to ensure that they are in line with those established when the methodology was validated. A record should be kept of the factors and if any are out of specification corrective action must be followed to restore to that defined in the methodology.
For Open Plant Cleaning this would involve:
Checking that the physical strip down of equipment meets that defined on the schedule. Checking the chemical strengths of detergent and disinfectant as applied to surfaces. This will generally involve a simple dropper test kit or with certain products by measuring conductivity.
Checking the strength of disinfectants on surfaces after application to ensure that no dilution or inactivation is occurring. This can be carried out using disinfectant specific test strips.
Checking the water temperature and pressure of any washdown system. Water temperature and pressure are often critical to achieving a successful clean.
For Cleaning in Place (CIP) this would involve:
Checking the physical set up of the cleaning route and the correct functioning of sprayheads.
Checking the chemical strengths of detergent and disinfectant. Modern cleaning systems will generally monitor and record return flow conductivity (relates directly to chemical strength), return flow temperature and return flow rate.
Unless the Cleaning in Place system automatically ensures the cleaning process parameters are met then the cleaning record should be analysed to verify that all parameters meet or exceed those achieved during validation.
