Steve Bell
Steve Bell sadly lost his long battle with cancer in June 2009, aged just 67. Anne Bell wife and Co-Founder of Holchem accepted the award on his behalf.
This category is for a company or person who has made a significant contribution to the food industry, with particular emphasis on Food Safety and/or Food Hygiene and/or Food Technology. The winner will be from any area of the food industry - manufacturing, retailing, service provision, etc. It is anticipated that the contribution will have been evident over a number of years, although any specific, significant, and major contributions over the previous 12 months will be considered.
After working for a decade in the food and beverage division of WR Grace supplying hygiene chemicals, Steve Bell set up Holchem Laboratories Ltd. in 1982 with the aim of supplying the industry with quality products and industry leading technical support. Through determination, sheer hard work and the ethos of supporting the customer at all costs, he competed against multi -billion dollar global competitors to such an extent that after 27 years of continuous growth, (from £8,000 in the first year to in excess of £20 million this year, and from a one man band to 154 employees) he developed Holchem into the largest supplier of hygiene solutions to the UK Food Industry.
At Holchem we truly believe that SOFHT could not have a more deserving recipient of this award in their 30th year.
