2020 has been a challenging year for all. The pandemic has affected not only the way we have all had to operate but for many it has been a time of isolation, combatting infection and for some sadness with loss of friends and relatives. Holchem, now part of the Kersia Group, has maintained close relationships and supported our customers across the world. Kersia is a global leader in biosecurity and food safety with value added products and solutions to prevent diseases or contamination in both animal and humans at every stage of the food supply chain.
Despite operating in the difficult economic and pandemic climate, we have seen several strong new business wins further enhancing our position as the market leading provider of chemical cleaning solutions.
With customer site visits postponed due to social distancing and travel restrictions, we recognised that the traditional Holchem support offering had to change temporarily. Customer support was provided by video conferencing, email and phone. Where remote working could not solve a problem agreed, controlled site visits took place.
The inability to deliver our normal face to face training led to the development, by the Technical Service Manager Team, of our Level 2, 3 and 4 Courses into virtual offerings. As such, and since September 2020, Holchem experienced huge demand for these virtual courses, most of which were sold out. We have successfully delivered 21 courses and trained over 250 delegates using Microsoft Teams® with excellent feedback. We have also developed five additional training courses that are now available for booking in 2021. Virtual course bookings for 2021 have already been significant.
Holchem introduced a new tablet-based audit app at the beginning of 2020. This allows our field-based staff to enter information into the app as they conduct an audit. At the end of each audit, the report is automatically generated and sent to the customer, providing the customer with real time information of their hygiene related processes.
Holchem have continued to support the development of food safety, by taking part in international working groups. Highlights include help in the development of the GFSI 2020 Benchmark documents JI and JII, concerned with the hygienic design of food buildings and equipment to aid cleanability, and in development of cleaning and disinfection guidance with both the EHEDG and Campden BRI.
The Holchem Kersia team wish you all the very best over the Christmas period and for the New Year.
