A New Decade for Holchem

Blog | 14 January 2020

Last week Simon Bell, the MD of the Holchem Group, resigned from the business.

Simon’s parents founded Holchem in 1982 and since then the company has grown from strength to strength, now employing around 260 people. Simon became Managing Director in 2003 taking over from his father, Steve Bell.

As the new decade begins there is a new future for Holchem and the company will continue to build on the Bell family legacy of looking after staff and customers and delivering on its promises.

Year on year the company has continued to grow with 2019 seeing Holchem celebrating the accolade as the Society of Food Hygiene and Technology’s (SOFHT) Training Company of the Year.  New business wins have further enhanced the position as the market leading provider of chemical cleaning solutions.

In 2019, the group achieved record sales and the best annual Customer Satisfaction survey in the group’s history, demonstrating the commitment shown to every customer by the entire Holchem team.

In November 2018 Ecolab acquired The Holchem Group with the vision of merging the companies and building on the expertise of both Ecolab and Holchem, delivering first class service to all their customers. The acquisition was subject to clearance by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) and Ecolab was ordered to divest Holchem. Both businesses currently continue to operate separately pending the outcome of the appeal against the CMA’s decision.

Simon now begins a 12 month period of garden leave. The business is in a strong position with an experienced management team and an exceptional group of employees.
