Carley Nightingale Celebrates 25 Years

Carley Nightingale recently celebrated her 25-year anniversary of working at Kersia UK, the new name for Holchem.  We talked to her about her current role, her time spent here and why she loves her job.

In my current role I am responsible for purchasing and scheduling all incoming goods, including raw materials, packaging and labels that arrive on a daily basis at our site in Manchester.  This requires me to liaise very closely with buyers, production, warehouse and transport departments. I also plan and co-ordinate with 3rd party production and warehousing providers. I work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that requires me to identify or predict problems and find solutions. As a result, I have adopted a ‘can-do’ attitude to always ‘find a way’. I don’t like being beaten and I take pride in the job I do.

I started as an Office Junior and then went onto work as a Word Processer, Customer Care Representative, Purchase Ledger Controller and now Purchasing Controller. In addition, I have the responsibility to setup and maintain items and formulations in our ERP system and to subsequently monitor and analyse consumption rates against sales.  I started working for the company 25 years ago and have stayed so long as I feel mentored, valued and respected.  I carry out exciting and challenging work and I have great relationship with colleagues and managers.  As a result, I am also very committed and loyal to the company and the people I work with.

In terms of the next 25 years I have new skills I wish to learn and valuable contributions to make to the future prosperity of Kersia. I wish to progress to a role that reflects my potential within this business. I want to have a fulfilling and rewarding career and a good work, life balance which is really important to me. Ultimately, I want to watch my daughter grow up and prosper with a family of her own one day and to keep healthy and happy.
