The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) in the United Kingdom announced the final results of its review of the merger of Ecolab and Holchem Group/Holchem Laboratories. The CMA concluded that the merger may result in a lessening of competition in the UK and, as a result, has ordered Ecolab to divest the business it acquired in 2018.
We strongly disagree with the CMA’s decision and continue to believe that a merger of the two companies would have led both companies to increased availability of innovation and expertise across the Food and Beverage industry. Ecolab is reviewing the full report provided by the CMA and will consider their next steps.
