2018 has seen Holchem reach a number of milestones in its trading history with the pinnacle of the year coming in October as the company recorded monthly sales of £4m for the first time. 2018 has been a busy year for the whole team and we have seen growth across all sectors driven from dedicated staff across the business. The fantastic feedback in our annual Customer Satisfaction Survey demonstrates the commitment our team has to each and every one of our customers. This year’s report results reveal that overall the team has reached a satisfaction score of 114%, which is above the target of 100%.
The Technical Service Managers have seen their busiest year since the company began with 325 audits undertaken. The team carried out eight external food safety presentations at major events including at the EHEDG World Congress, IAFP Annual Meeting and Anuga Food Tec. Holchem has also been represented on various industry bodies including Campden MIGs, EHEDG Subgroups, IAFP Professional Working Groups and GFSI Working Groups. Furthering knowledge and expertise in the industry is key to developing the business, the team and helping to evolve our client offering and 2018 has been no exception. Three white papers have been drafted and published highlighting Listeria, Analytical Standards and Campy Module Washing and an external publication paper on Cleaning and Disinfection Objectives.
We trained 686 delegates on 52 hygiene training courses at locations across the UK, Ireland and some worldwide. Our eLearning courses continue to be very popular with 4211 individuals trained through 2018.
Career progression in the chemical industry is at the very foundation of sector development and Holchem co-funded programmes, with Manchester Metropolitan University (KTP programme) and Cardiff Metropolitan University (PhD programme), to help develop new entrants into the industry whilst also sponsoring The Society of Food Hygiene and Technology Student Awards.
And the highlights of the year cannot be drawn to a close without a mention of the charity raising that goes on throughout the company. The commitment to helping raise funds for Grace’s Place, a new children’s hospice in Bury, continued with a Holchem team completing a gruelling Coast2Coast bike ride, cycling 139 miles and raising over £4,000.
