Holchem Supports Allergy Awareness Week

This week is Allergy Awareness Week and we have been supporting it throughout the Holchem business with our teams wearing orange wigs and clothing during their internal and external meetings to raise awareness of the campaign.

We also recently hosted our Food Safety Forum series on Allergens with Lynne Regent, CEO of the Anaphylaxis campaign, who talked about Living with a Food Allergy, Tim McLachlan CEO of the Natasha Allergy Research Foundation spoke about ‘Allergies, Natasha’s Law and the Future’ and Joels Wlson Nieuwenhuis a KTP research associate covered Surface Fouling & Allergens.

Here at Holchem, allergen management is a key part of our work with our customers.  We advise on allergen management as part of a complete hygiene solution, from the supply of cleaning chemicals and tools to the provision of post-hygiene analytical test kits, including undertaking hygiene training courses for hygiene operatives, supervisors and managers

Across food and beverage processing the practical management of allergens is high on the agenda and our teams visit and advise our customers on a daily basis to ensure their plans are working and are as up to date as possible.  Controlling allergens comes under four areas:

  • Stop them entering the factory
  • Segregate products and ingredients
  • Removal of allergens from surfaces
  • Avoid spreading allergens around the site
