Meet The Team – Richard Fine

For this month’s Meet The Team we are talking to Holchem’s/Kersia’s new Food and Beverage Sales Director, Richard Fine.  He joined the company recently and has worked in the food and beverage sector most of his career.

How Long Have You Been In Your Role?

I joined the business on 16th August this year so 14 weeks now and I’m thoroughly enjoying it.  Holchem is a great business which is blessed with a team of many talented and dedicated people.

What Was Your Career Path To Your Role?
It mainly involves sweets chocolate and beer. I’ve worked in sales pretty much all of my career, having started with Bass Brewers selling beer to corner shops many years ago. I then spent a big chunk of my career in confectionery, working for Trebor Bassett selling sweets and then Cadbury’s selling chocolate.  I then moved onto Thorntons selling posh chocolates and more recently a company called Hancocks which specialises in selling brands from the USA & own label confectionery to supermarkets.

I also spent three years with a retail services business Dee Set, supporting both retailers & brands with fulfilment, logistics & merchandising solutions.  All are different to chemicals although many of the challenges for a sales team are very similar.

What Responsibilities/Roles Does Your Job Include?

My main role is to support our Sales team & help deliver a first-class service and manage our customer base, through our National Accounts team, Regional teams & Customer Care teams.  I also help deliver on our company’s financial targets.

What’s Your Favourite Part Of Your Job?

It really is the variety the role offers.  There is something new every day, which can bring its challenges at times however there’s never a dull moment which I love.

What Does A ‘Typical' Day Look Like For You?

My days are so different but a ‘typical’ day includes dealing with internal work, supporting my team and, of course, the odd Teams meeting here and there.  The variety of the job means that there’s always a new challenge which is great for me.

What Would Your Dream Job Be?

Apart from my current role…..probably a chef, as I like to cook but would love to be able to cook better.
