In our series of ‘Team Talk’ we’re catching up with Andrew Blackler, Regional Sales Manager at Holchem. Andrew plays a crucial role in the company and started his career at Holchem as a Technical Sales Consultant.
Andrew, how long have you been in your current role?
I have been in my current role as Regional Sales Manager for six years and before that I was a Technical Sales Consultant; a hugely important role at Holchem as they are the customer facing side of the company - the ‘day-to-day’ face of the company to our customers.
Can you tell us more about your career path before you worked at Holchem?
I began as a Supervisor within a cooked meats business, then moved into Production Management in a Sausage and Encased Meat factory. I became Shift Manager in the same large bakery making pies and pasties. I moved on and became the Factory Manager in a Dairy site. I then began work with Holchem and, as they say, I have never looked back!
What are the main responsibilities and roles within your job?
Currently, I manage a very experienced team of Technical Consultants, who in turn do an excellent job in making sure that our customers are happy. Delivering on our promises every day.
What’s your favourite part of your job? – I really enjoy working with the great team I look after and I love problem solving for customers.
What does a typical day look like to you? I always have an early start and go through my emails to ensure I’m on top of correspondence with customers. I follow a 20-day plan, which is populated around the needs of our customers and the consultants I manage.
How long have you worked at Holchem - In total I have worked at Holchem for almost 20 years!
What would your dream job be? I’d love to be the Tour Manager / Entertainments Manager of the next Lions Rugby Tour to South Africa!
