In our series of ‘Team Talk’ we’re with Nicola Bellamy, Holchem Technical Service Manager. Nicola has been in her current role for five years and joined Holchem in 1999.
Can you talk us through your career path to your current role?
I’ve had a few different roles within the company. I started work at Holchem in 1999 as a Hygiene Technologist for the Northern Region. In 2009 I became the Hygiene Technologist Manager with six Hygiene Technologists to manage, mentor and train. In 2014 I was promoted to Technical Service Manager for the North East Region. In 2015 I was also given title of Training Manager which allows me to manage and coordinate the Training Management System for the Holchem training course offering to our customers.
How did you train for your job? I went to Hull University from 1996 - 1999 and studied BSc Environmental Biology and from there I went straight into the working world.
What responsibilities/roles does your job include? There are lots of different tasks involved in my role. They include Hygiene Audits, Trouble Shooting, Micro Investigation, Presenting, Training delivery, Management of the training portfolio, developing hygiene training courses. It’s a really busy role that certainly keeps me on my toes!
What's your favourite part of your job? I really enjoy co-ordinating the training portfolio and liaising with customers regarding their training requirements. I find it really satisfying especially when you know so many of our customers successfully complete the courses and are using their new skills in their jobs.
What does a ‘typical' day look like for you? There is no typical day!! Generally, I can visit a food factory in the evening 22:00 - 06:00am to carry out a factory audit. During the day I will write up the report, answer emails, develop training courses, organise training information and training management system.
How long have you worked at Holchem? 19 years…and I love it.
What would you dream job be? Actual dream job............who knows!!
