The focus for this month’s 'Meet The Team' is Alan Powell, Kersia Sales Manager Ruminants UK and Ireland.
How long have you been in your current role?
I’ve been in my role for just under a year. I joined at the start of the pandemic.
What was your career path that led you to this role?
I worked for Pfizer for many years in sales and marketing roles which then led to me running a television/digital media company. Not a natural progression but both gave me great experience. As you can imagine they were two very different companies with very different cultures.
What responsibilities does your role include?
My role is to ensure that we maximise sales growth and profitability within the ruminant sector via our sales force interaction with customers and various marketing activities. It’s a varied role and it means I get to work with our fantastic sales team.
What’s your favourite part of the job?
Seeing the difference our activities can make in the field and delivering results to the business. Every day is different, and I get to work with a great team and customers.
What does a typical day look like?
Like most people in the UK, at the moment, it involves a lot of sitting at my desk at home in Ludlow talking to my teams and customers in the UK and Ireland via Microsoft Teams. I’m looking forward to the time when we can all meet face to face. However, for the time being we stick with Microsoft Teams and make the most of the situation. Most days I deal with enquiries from our customers via our sales team and ensure that all our customers receive the right products and services they require for their business.
What would your dream job be?
I’m a proud Welsh man so it’s got to be playing for Wales rugby team in the Six Nations in Cardiff at the Principality Stadium with the roar of the crowd behind us, and the Welsh fans singing their hearts out!
